First Grade Chol Hamoed Sukkot

Dear Parents,

We are looking forward to two incredibly special days of Chol HaMoed with your children. Each day will begin with a festive tefillah including Hallel and the bracha on the lulav and etrog!

On Monday, October 13th, the students will be participating in a number of activities and programs. All students in the entire school will be participating in special Hakafot to celebrate the chag. Our 1st grade students will be visited by the seven different Ushpizin and will have some special relay races in the gym. We are also incredibly lucky to culminate the day with a  special concert by Pey Dalid!  Monday promises to be an exciting day for all of us!

In honor of the chag, please have your child wear dressy clothing to school on Monday.

On Tuesday, October 14th, in celebration of Chol HaMoed Sukkot, the entire school will be going on trips or Tiyulim. We are very excited that the 1st grade will be visiting the Tenafly Nature Center. In the morning the students will participate in two workshops; Invertebrate Safari and Pond Ecology. Both of these programs are hands on activities which will teach students more about the wonderful world around them focusing on insects and food chains. We will be leaving BPY at 9:00am and eating lunch at a sukkah in Teaneck. After lunch, our students will return to the Tenafly Nature Center for a short hike before returning to BPY at the end of the day.

Students should wear their regular uniforms to school and should bring the proper outerwear for the weather as we will be spending a lot of time outside.

Please note that lunch will be provided for all students on both days of chol hamoed sukkot.   All snacks should be she'hakol, ha'adama or ha'etz as they will be eaten, most likely, outside the sukkah.  Good options include yogurt, cheese, rice cakes, apple sauce as well as fruits, vegetables and juices. If you are not planning to have your child join us on Chol Hamoed, please email us to let us know.

We are so excited to be celebrating Sukkot together with your children!

Chag Sameach,
Morah Vicky, Morah Eileen, Morah Tali and Morah Rivki.
